Hydraulic Energy

The Hydropower is produced by the water retained in reservoirs or swamps at high altitude (which has gravitational potential energy). If at one point dropped to a lower level, this energy is converted into kinetic energy and then into electricity in hydroelectric power.
Advantages: It is a source of clean, residue-free and easy to store. In addition, the water stored in reservoirs located in high places can regulate the flow of the river.
Disadvantages: The construction of hydropower plants is expensive and large power lines are needed. In addition, dams cause loss of productive land and land fauna due to the flooding of land dedicated to them. They also cause reduced flow of rivers and streams below the dam and alter water quality.
